Octocopter

So my first attempt to build a 4 rotor helicopter was today. Sadly I didn't get off the ground but I did have some fun.

My motors. the smallest ones I could find

The frame that the motors are attached to

I used a hot glue gun to glue the sides of the motors to the frame

In total only 65 grams :) My goal is to make it less than 145 grams

I had some trouble with one motor because it had a gear on it which I had to take off. It was not easy and I was worried I had damaged the motor but it still works fine.

I also had 1 motor that wouldn't turn at first. Even when I gave it a flick to start it. It was gummed up and I was having trouble just turning it by hand, So I took it apart and whatever was making it stick went away. Unfortunately I had to pull the motor off the frame in order to fix is (and a second motor fell off) so I have called it quits for tonight. Gotta see how much thrust is needed in order to lift 65 grams of weight.
